Biography:

Jude Edginton was introduced to photography by his London primary school when they opened a purpose built darkroom in 1977. At sixteen he got his first job as photographer and darkroom manager at the Oxford Film and Video Makers. At the same time attending courses at the inspiring Oxford Photographers Workshop. First commissions as a freelancer came from the unlikely world of video games. “I started working for this well designed games magazine called Edge. I tried to make game geeks look like rock n roll bands. Suddenly I got calls from Japan asking if I would travel there to take publicity portraits of leading game developers. For a while I was adopted by this strange world.” He lived in California in the heart of the games industry and used the video games work to fund his personal reportage photography. This encompassed cattle branding in Texas, San Francisco’s female firefighters, and horse racing in Iran.

Jude now lives in London and has established himself as a leading portrait and commercial photographer. Clients include Channel 4, The BBC, Adidas, Nike, Microsoft, Mobil 1, The Times Magazine, Shortlist, ESPN The Magazine, The Sunday Times, The New York Times.

His subjects range from Gogglebox stars to Noel Gallagher and from Thierry Henry to Boris Johnson. He is a winner of the Picture Editor awards Magazine Photographer Of The Year and has twice been nominated for the British Press awards.

Britain United – Adidas Team GB Tate Modern, London South Bank
